Biography: I was born in Rwanda and raised in a Christian family in Musanze, in the North of Rwanda. Growing up, I always valued academic excellence and at a young age received National Awards for “Best Performing Girl” and “Best Science Student.”
For high school, I joined the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa, where I became part of Golang Crèche, a student-run business that teaches basic Math and English to pre-schools in Emthonjeni, Johannesburg. In 2013, I became the poster girl for “Look Good Feel Better” and L’Oreal, the purpose was to support women undergoing chemotherapy in South Africa. I was also featured in a video for Estee Lauder which raised awareness about early cancer detection. Before starting college, I interned at Equity Bank Rwanda to explore careers in financial institutions and learn more about the corporate operations in Rwanda.I am studying Chemical engineering at the University of Rochester where I am also a member of the Biodiesel Club and the Pan-African Student Association. I am passionate about providing long-lasting solutions in the energy sector of developing countries. After gaining experience in the energy or manufacturing sectors, I hope to earn a doctorate and to become a professor – teaching the next generation of leaders.
