Russell is one of the leaders of Deloitte’s Product Security practice and focuses on connected medical device safety and security. Russell has over twenty four years of experience advising healthcare delivery organizations (HDOs), biopharma/diagnostic companies, tech companies and medical device manufacturers on a wide variety of cybersecurity, data privacy, and regulatory and big data problems.
Russell has recently led a team that developed several industry leading product security solutions including:
- an integrated asset management/cybersecurity solution for the internet of medical things (IoMT);
- a SIEM solution for medical device customer support networks; and
- a technical security testing framework for complex medical devices like Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) devices and pacemaker/ICD devices.

Russell has been published numerous times and has been quoted in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Minnesota Star Tribune, InformationWeek, Modern Healthcare and Healthcare IT News. In 2016, Russell was interviewed by ABC KSTP Minneapolis for a live healthcare segment focused on cybersecurity and implantable medical devices.
Russell holds a Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in California and Maryland.
