Biography: I was born and raised in China. Because my parents had to forgo their educational opportunities at a young age, they have always encouraged me to pursue the best education. After studying in China, the US, and the UAE, I developed an immense interest in investigating cross cultural similarities and differences. I just completed my first year at NYU Abu Dhabi and am now transferring to Swarthmore College in order to study anthropology and art.
During high school, I initiated a student-led, community-wide mental health conference for teens, and the third iteration is on its way. Working with Woodenfish Foundation, I helped coordinate two international Buddhism and science conferences in China and the US. At NYUAD, I was active in co-leading the Special Olympics volunteer ambassador team and organizing Appreciation Day for our contracted staff from around the world. I also exhibited my painting along with international artists in the UAE. This summer, I’m interning with Stepping Stones to help evaluate their programs and contribute to ongoing research of designing better programs for migrant children and workers in China. Upon graduation, I hope to pursue a PhD in anthropology and use research as an instrument to advocate for the overall well-being of migrants.
