Biography: I am a Political Science major with a concentration in Public Policy at Yale University. I am from St. Paul, Minnesota and was born in Nairobi, Kenya, but my family and I are Oromo from Ethiopia.

My immigration and resettlement experience in the Twin Cities is what drives many of my passions: I am an Ambassador for Students of Salaam (SOS), a refugee resettlement organization at Yale University. I am also a committee member for Students Unite Now, a student action program that campaigns for financial aid reform. Before arriving at Yale, I served as an Applicant Ambassador and Lead Fellow for The Joyce Ivy Foundation, a scholarship program for high-achieving low-income girls in the Midwest.

I hope that one day, my work in policy reform will ensure that refugee families who won’t have to endure the hardships my family and I faced when migrating to and settling into a new country.
